A media briefing "Slovakia Today" will be held at 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 23 February 2005 at International Press Centre in Bratislava, Slovakia. The briefing aimed to provide in-depth independent information on current trends in various fields of Slovak society, is organized by Institute for Public Affairs (IVO), Slovakia's premier public policy think-tank.

The briefing will follow a Q&A pattern with senior IVO analysts answering questions of journalists. Their expertise focuses on domestic and foreign policy issues, public opinion, political culture and minorities. The briefing will be given by IVO's president Grigorij Meseznikov, program directors Olga Gyarfasova and Michal Vasecka and analysts Zora Butorova and Marek Stastny.

The briefing will be held in English language. It is open to all media holding the general "Slovakia 2005 Summit Media Credential" accreditation issued by the Government of the Slovak Republic.

Media briefing: "Slovak Democracy Assistance to Sensitive Countries (Belarus, Cuba and Iraq)"

A media briefing, organized by the Pontis Foundation at International Press Centre in Bratislava, will address the issue of NGOs from small Central European country initiating democracy assistance projects in some of the last tyrannies (Cuba, Belarus), as well as assist in transition after the fall of another dictator (Iraq). It will also elaborate on how lessons learned during 15 years of post-communist transition to democracy in Central and Eastern Europe can be shared with civil society activists from other parts of the world.

Pontis Foundation, one of Slovakia's largest NGOs established in 1995, has three core programs: democracy assistance projects abroad; development of nonprofit organizations, and corporate philanthropy & CSR.

Invitation to the presentation of a memorable postal stamp issued on the occasion of 2005 Slovakia Summit

The Slovak Postal Co. Inc., Bansk Bystrica has issued a memorable postal stamp on the occasion of the 2005 Summit of the presidents of the USA and of the Russian Federation, G. Bush and V. Putin, held in Slovakia. The top managers of the Slovak Postal Co. and their guests will present the postal stamp in the Press Center located in the INCHEBA Exhibition and Congress Center, Hall C,.on the day of its issue, i.e. on February 24, at 10:00 a.m.

On February 24, at 8:00 a.m., the Slovak Postal Company Inc. will commission a mail counter, which will sell the stamp of the new issue. Also, it will use a memorable postmark with the official summit logo, of Bratislava 5 domicile and with the date of the postal stamp issuance, i.e. February 24, 2005. The mail counter will be open until 6:00 p.m., and journalists may use it to send mail to all the countries of the world.
