It brings closer the history of the city from Middle Ages to the 20th century in separate units presenting the history of crafts and trade, coronations of Hungarian kings, science, technology as well as cultural life in the town, sacral arts, life style of nobility and bourgeoisie, ideas of national revival as well as development of industry in the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.

The exposition documents over two thousand years of viticulture tradition in Bratislava and its surroundings ranging from the oldest documents up to the period of organising Bratislava's wine growers in various associations in the end of the 19th century. In addition to a unique collection of carved barrel bottoms and embossments, it offers information on rich history of Bratislava wine, reaching its peak by establishing business companies of European and world significance represented primarily by the companies of J. E. Hubert and J. Palugyai.

The exposition is documenting development of artistic/craft creation in Bratislava in the 16th to 19th centuries. There are shown exhibits of furniture creation, goldsmith works, artistic locksmith works as well as exhibits of extinct crafts as tinnery supplemented by objects of faience, glass and china.

It makes visitors acquainted with the history of city fortification, while there are exhibited various kinds of cold weapons, military and tournament and independent part is devoted to development of fire arms. It also documents crafts serving for needs of city defence, bringing closer the history of Bratislava's foundrymen and gunmakers. Entrance to the terrace of the tower is from the highest floor, providing outlook at the historical part of Bratislava and its surroundings.

It brings closer life and work of the distinguished music composer J. N. Hummel (1770 - 1837). In two rooms on the first floor, there is exhibited factographic material related to life and creation of the composer, the interior is supplemented with period furniture. Out of the artist's extensive creation, there are shown exhibits of manuscripts and later issues of his works. There are also exhibited two spinets the master used to play.

The exposition documents the history of watchmaking from the end of the 17th to the end of the 19th centuries. There is a unique set of portable sundials of the 17th - 18th centuries, various types of table and wall clocks, alarm clocks and specimens of pocket watches. Most of exhibits are signed by Bratislava's watchmaking masters.

The exposition brings closer the history of Roman Empire in the territory of Slovakia. It is located in the space where a military camp Gerulata used to be, the only one in our territory that was integral part of the Roman Empire, province Panonia. The oldest relic is represented by wooden/earth camp dating back from the end of the 1st and the beginning of the 2nd centuries.

Besides a unique collection of ceramic works of the artist's early creative period preserved in collections of Bratislava, it shows a representative selection of 29 Fleischmann's works of the time span between the 1940-ies to 1970-ies, which were lent by the Foundation of Arthur Fleischmann in London. Along with extensive photograph documentation, it thus provides an integral picture of extraordinarily versatile artistic personality who has been rightly rated among significant protagonists of modern sculpture of the 20th century.
